LCS Community Operations has announced that South Port Square has earned national recognition in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 Best Senior Living Awards, receiving Best Independent Living, Best Memory Care and Best Continuing Care Retirement Community awards, along with accolades in the independent living category for Management & Staff, and Activities & Enrichment.

Fifty-four LCS communities received “Best of” honors, and 67 communities were recognized overall, including receiving the “Accolades” distinction for outstanding performance in specific areas.

“This recognition is a powerful reflection of what matters most to us: the everyday experiences of the residents and families we serve,” said LCS President and CEO Chris Bird. “The vote of confidence from a record number of our communities, many of whom were recognized across multiple categories, speaks to the compassion and excellence our teams bring to our communities every day.”

The U.S. News Best Senior Living Awards (www.usnews.com/info/blogs/press-room/articles/2026-04-14/u-s-news-world-report-honors-top-rated-communities-in-2026-best-senior-living-ratings) are based on verified resident and family satisfaction surveys, making them one of the most trusted resources for comparing senior living options. The communities that received recognition are either wholly owned by LCS (www.lcsliving.com/lcs) or managed by LCS Community Operations (www.lcsliving.com/lcs/senior-living-operations).

The survey evaluates communities across key experience areas, including:

  • Caregiving and staff responsiveness
  • Management and communication
  • Activities and enrichment
  • Food and dining
  • Sense of home and belonging
  • Safety and overall satisfaction

“By 2030, one in five Americans will be of retirement age, and while every individual’s path is different, many will eventually look to reside in a senior living community,” said Liz Pearce, director, senior living at U.S. News. “Whether seeking an active independent lifestyle or specialized care, U.S. News’ 2026 Best Senior Living ratings help families navigate these options by identifying communities where residents and their families reported the highest levels of satisfaction.”

Only the highest-rated communities in each care level earned a “Best” rating from U.S. News, reflecting the viewpoints from over 540,000 consumer surveys. U.S. News also recognizes outstanding performance in several key areas with a High Performing accolade. These accolades are awarded to communities that scored in the top 25% of evaluated communities nationwide for caregiving; activities and enrichment; management and staff; food; and home-like environment; while also meeting other criteria. A full searchable directory of the U.S. News Best Senior Living ratings is available at health.usnews.com/best-senior-living.
